Bristol Harlequins sealed the Somerset Premier League with 3 games to spare after defeating Taunton II 23-9. They maintained their 100% league record and return to the Western Counties North next season.

Bristol Harlequins will be playing their rescheduled league fixture against Avon at home this Wednesday 10th March 7.30pm, squad TBA. Training will take place at the club on Tuesday 7-8.30pm.

Bristol Harlequins are the Somerset Senior Vase representatives in the National Cup. They will face Gloucestershire side Cirencester at home this Saturday 6th February.

The 2nd team have no game and the 3rd team are playing St Marys OB away.

Bristol Harlequins have drawn Avonmouth OB in the first round of the Bristol Combination Cup. This fixture will be played on Tuesday 15th September at Portway, kick-off TBC.

Pre season training will start Tuesday 2nd June, however the club is still open on Tuesday nights for touch rugby, football and cricket. Lets support the coaches and new club captain James Lewis this season.

2009-2010 Season Update

This coming season no teams were relegated into our league, and St Bernedettes and Taunton II gained promotion. Burnham-on-Sea gained promontion into Western Counties North, and North Pretherton gained promotion into Western Counties West. Therefore we have a good oppurtunity for promotion back to Western Counties North, if everyone get fit (Training!) and everyone gives everything they got. Lets make this a great season for James Lewis and Bristol Harlequins and it all starts at pre-season training. Hope to see you all there.

For the first time in Bristol Harlequins history the club has made it to a senior county final after beating Clevedon 7-0 at Gordano in the Somerset Cup Semi-Final.

Bristol Harlequins will now play South-West 1 side Weston Super Mare in the final. Weston beat Winscombe 53-13 at Yatton in the other semi-final. Weston last won the county trophy two seasons ago and have been in 11 finals winning 7 of them and between 2001 and 2004 Weston won the cup in three consecutive seasons.

Sadly, todays Somerset Cup Quarter Final game against Minehead, has been called off. Minehead could not travel with a front row to fulfil the fixture. Therefore we have been given the walkover to the Semi Finals, in which we will face Clevedon at a neutral location.

Congratulations to both teams for their win in the EDF Senior Vase and Somerset Cups. Bristol Harlequins beat Avon in the EDF Cup 31-10, and then the following day traveled to Ivel Babarians with only 5 remaining players fromsaturday and the rest of the team made up from the 2nds. It demonstrates how strong our squad is at the moment with a successful win beating Ivel 25-10 which will probably give selection some problems (but good problems!)

However, before then Bristol Harlequins will travel down to Wimborne this saturday 18th October for a rematch in the EDF Senior Vase Cup game. The last time the two teams played each other was in the EDF Senior Vase in 2006 in which Quins won 28-22! Lets hope for the same result this weekend!

This Saturday 28th April Bristol Harlequins RFC will play Keynsham RFC in the Somerset 3rd/4th Play-off at Bristol Barbarians RFC. The winners will be entered into the EDF National Trophy next season.

Due to last Saturdays EDF Cup Round 5 fixture was called-off after 15 minutes by the Referee, this Saturday the League game against Thornbury has been postponed. The cup game takes propriety over the league. Therefore the 1st XV will be travelling back to Gordon League this Saturday.

This weekend Bristol Harlequins have a double Header. Saturday 20th January Quins will travel upto Gordon League for their EDF Senior Vase 4th Round match. Then on Sunday 21st January will travel to Walcot for the Somerset Quater final match.

Investec Challenge Matches- November 2006
We have been allocated tickets for England v New Zealand on 5 November 2006, England v South Africa on 18 November 2006 and England v South Africa (again) on 25 November 2006. Tickets prices range from £65.00 to £45.00. We have to submit the ticket application by 30 June 2006 so if anyone is interest they should contact Ian Nunnerley ASAP.

Numbers at training are currently low, and the Club WANTS to go forward and push for South West II rugby along with getting or 2nds back into the top 2nd Merit League. This can only be done through training.

Therefore the club is going to trial for a month a TRAINING INCENTIVE MATCH SUB. If a player trains in the week then they will save £2 on Match Subs.

Please note that this is only a Month trial and will be evaluated and discussed at the next monthly meeting.

The OFFICIAL date for our 3rd Round Somerset Cup tie against Keynsham RFC will be on Saturday 15th January 2005 at home, kick-off is at 2pm.

Whoever wins on Saturday, will then travel to North Petherton the next day (Sunday 16th January) to play the 4th Round Cup tie.

Its been about 32 fixture weekends since we last played a 4th team fixture, but this week the 4th team strikes back when they will travel to Imperial to face thier 2nds. Imperial II was also the last fixture the 4th team played last season, lets hope its not the last this season.

If numbers are good next week then the 4th team will face Imperial III at Home for the rematch.

Saturday 27th November, is the next round of the NPI Cup, in which Bristol Harlequins RFC will travel to current South West 2 (West) Leaders Spartans(SW) RFC.

The Club are organising a coach for the players and supporters, therefore if you would like a place on the coach, then please add your name to the list on the Clubs notice board.

BBC Radio Bristol are going to be interviewing the club for 'Morning West' and a longer piece for the 'Geoff Twentyman Show' on Saturday.

Bristol Harlequins went out in the Semi-Final stage at the Imperial Sevens Tournament. Quins lost to the evental winners Frampton Cottrell 7-0. It was a well played semi-final inwhich both defences were good. Photos from this tournament can be viewed in the photo section of Quins website.

Bristol Harlequins beat Corsham RFC 4 tries to none. Andy Pelling scored the first try with a powerful run down the wing. Jim Phillips scored 2 tries and Mark Ralph scored the last try. Bristol Harlequins XV Squad v Corsham Saturday 21st August Kick off will be at 2.30 pm. 1st XV Squad players who are playing to be at the club for 12.45pm - 13.00pm.

A 1st Team Squad of approximatley 30 players will take on Corsham RFC Saturday 21st August. Kick-off about 3:00

Full training will start in July and will be every Tuesday and Thursday night 19:00 start.

Lite pre-season training will start in June and will be every Wednesday night for a 19:00 start.

This saturday Bristol Harlequins is running a Inter Club Game. Two sides will be arranged on Saturday moring. All players are welcome just bring your kit and meet at the clubhouse normal time.

End of Season Disco has been arranged for this Saturday night 17th April . All players and guest welcome, £1 on the door entry from 19:30.

Due to an injury to the referee, the Yatton v Bristol Harlequin fixture last weekend was abandoned. This league fixture will now be replayed on Saturday 17th January 2004.
